The Hebrews which is the ancestors of today’s Jews has settled in Palestine in 1900 BC and had formed the kingdom of Israel, ruled by King David, by 1000 BC. Palestine was then taken over by a series of foreign powers. In the seventh century AD, the Arabs took control of the area during the Islamic expansion.
